COMPETITIONS AT LHD 2024
LUCK OF THE DRAW
This will be a social dance competition open to everyone. Leaders and followers sign up individually and will be randomly drawn to dance together to several songs of varying styles and tempos, but will be judged as individuals in the preliminary rounds.
Dancers selected to dance in the final will randomly draw a partner and will be judged as a couple. The finals will be done in a spotlight format to live music by Enric Peidro Swingtet. Dancers will have one chorus with slower music and one chorus with faster music.
Entry fee: 10 euros per person. All competition entry fees will be donated to Black Lindy Hopper’s Fund and Frankie Manning Foundation.
This competition is for full pass holders and party pass holders only and it will take place on Saturday night.
COUPLES COMPETITION
This dance competition is open to anyone. Dancers register as couples and will dance to music selected by LHD and it is mandatory to dance your hardest!
Although choreographed sequences are not disallowed, the judges will be looking for spontaneity, creativity and connection to the music.
The finals will be danced in a jam format to live music by Enric Peidro Swingtet. Dancers will have one chorus with slower music and one chorus with faster music. Sign up with your partner and show us what you’ve got!
